We're building the operating system for African hospitals.
MERIDIAN HIMS is built by Plaxera Concepts Ltd, a Kenyan health-tech company founded in 2019 by a team of physicians, health-informaticians and engineers. Our mission is simple: make every Kenyan hospital SHA-ready, paperless and interoperable — without importing a foreign system that doesn't understand our workflows.
From a Nairobi ward to 40+ hospitals.
Plaxera started in a single 40-bed hospital in Nairobi's Kilimani district in 2019. The founding team spent six months on the ward before writing a line of production code — watching cashiers reconcile paper receipts, nurses chase drug charts, and claims officers print, stamp and courier files to insurers.
When SHA replaced NHIF in October 2024, we rebuilt MERIDIAN around the new digital claims architecture. Today the system handles over KES 3.4 billion in annual claim volume across 40+ Kenyan facilities.
We remain 100% Kenyan-owned. Our servers sit in Cape Town. Our engineers sit in Nairobi. Our clinical advisors round on real wards, in real hospitals, every week.
By 2028
Every Kenyan Level-4, 5 and 6 facility runs on an interoperable, SHA-compliant HIMS. We intend to power at least 30% of them.
What we believe.
Half our engineers have worked a hospital ward. Design decisions are made with, not for, the frontline.
We treat SHA, DHA, ODPC and FHIR as product features — not paperwork done after launch.
Data resident in Africa. Support in EAT hours. Trained implementation partners in each county.
FHIR-native, exportable, portable. No vendor lock-in. Ever.

We'd love to show you MERIDIAN and hear about your facility.
